Gordon Brown on global citizenship
If you watch this video...
The problem is:
Until now he was not able to make it happen and he did not really fight for it in public.
When beeing asked wether he would rescue a family of non-british humans or a single british citizen,
he makes it clear that his job is to not see human beeings as equal, but to make policies in the
interest of the british citizens, which elected him.
What would have been the next question if he had said "I would save the family"?
The question would have probably been:
"So why don´t you save the tens of thousands people dying every day from hunger?
Why don´t you change european border policy, which killed more then 35.000 people in the last year?
The responsibility is not just his, it is ours. We murder.
Politicians do what the people who vote for them will make them vote again.

Preventing climate change with global democracy
huge numbers of climate refugees, people dying because of hunger and natural disasters, etc.
So why does humankind not act?
It is because we elect politicians on the national level and they act in the will of the nation state and not of the world. The problem is that acting in the interest of the nation is not necessarily the best for the nation. Sounds strange?
Academics call this game theory. This theory explains that sometimes when decisions are taken and there is an uncertainty how everybody else is deciding that then everybody goes for an egoistic approach and not for a collaborative approach (which would be best for all).
Because there are a lot of uncertainties and other interests involved, politicians fail again and again to deliver a proper solution for climate change.
If there were politicians or even us citizens taking decisions directly on the global level then we would see an agreement pretty quickly.
This is just a very short call for global democracy, if you want to know more about the relationship of climate change and the lack of democracy at the global level you might want to take a look at the following links:
