Gordon Brown on global citizenship

If you watch this video...

...you may think: it is wonderful how much Gordon Brown is in favour of world citizenship.

The problem is:

Until now he was not able to make it happen and he did not really fight for it in public.

When beeing asked wether he would rescue a family of non-british humans or a single british citizen,

he makes it clear that his job is to not see human beeings as equal, but to make policies in the

interest of the british citizens, which elected him.

What would have been the next question if he had said "I would save the family"?

The question would have probably been:

"So why don´t you save the tens of thousands people dying every day from hunger?

Why don´t you change european border policy, which killed more then 35.000 people in the last year?

The responsibility is not just his, it is ours. We murder.

Politicians do what the people who vote for them will make them vote again.

As long as politicians decide upon the faith of people who cannot elect or deselect
them, they are not accountable.

We have to build a strong social movement for democracy beyond the borders
of nation states to make the world a better place.

As long as we don´t strive for this we all deserve to be put in prison:
convicted for murder.
